Thank you for taking the time to read my biography. I am Huiying Jessica Zhou Tull, and I moved to the United States in 2006 from Guangdong, China, to pursue my college education. I am deeply passionate about my work with children and their families, having dedicated over ten years to various settings including schools, community organizations, and non-profit agencies.
My professional experience as a Child and Family Mental Health Specialist and Parent Coach. I have had the privilege of working extensively with disadvantaged children and adults who have experienced poverty, early childhood trauma, and neglect.
My work has involved significant collaboration with Child Protective Services and the Department of Families and Children, where I provided both direct care and conducted parenting evaluations. To better understand and address the chronic distress experienced by individuals who have suffered early abuse and neglect, I have received training and am rostered in several evidence-based theories, including Child Parent Psychotherapy, PCIT, PMTO, and Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.
My understanding of neurodevelopmental and age-related trauma responses has shown me the profound impact of brain dysregulation and trauma on daily functioning and prognosis, especially when integrated with a Play Therapy approach. This insight has led me to recognize the crucial need for educating parents through a neurodevelopmentally and trauma-informed lens, emphasizing positive relationship-based parenting models
It is a privilege to connect with individuals and have them share their experiences, including their suffering, joy, anger, confusion, sorrow, and successes. I firmly believe that mental health is crucial for an individual's well-being, fostering healthy family dynamics, strong interpersonal relationships, and the capacity to lead a fulfilling and productive life.
The therapy room is a safe space where individuals can express themselves authentically, free from judgment or criticism, and receive understanding and support. My role is to comprehend your unique story and perspective, offering guidance that prioritizes your and your family's best interests. My therapeutic approach is built upon empathy and optimism.

我是专科在儿童及家庭心理健康与调解家长指导教育。这些年有幸接触到好多不同环境与需求的孩子和大人,他们有的经历过贫困,有的小时候心理受过创伤,家庭暴力, 又或者还有的被人忽视。
我工作会经常和儿童保护服务部门、家庭与儿童事务部一起合作。在那儿,我不仅直接给人家提供帮助,还会对家长育儿的情况做评估。为了能更好地了解和解决那些小时候被虐待、被忽视的人长期以来的痛苦,我参加了不少培训,还在好几种有科学依据的治疗理论方法里登记在册,像儿童父母心理治疗、亲子互动治疗、多维度治疗模式,还有创伤聚焦认知行为疗法。
我研究过神经发育,也了解跟年龄有关的创伤反应,这让我清楚地知道大脑功能失调和创伤对一个人日常的生活和恢复影响有多大,特别是把这个和儿童游戏疗法结合起来的时候。因为这个,我就意识到得从神经发育和创伤影响这些角度,给家长讲讲育儿的知识,得强调用积极的、注重关系培养的育儿模式。
能在治疗室里听他们讲讲自己的经历,不管是难受的、高兴的、生气的,还是迷茫、伤心,或者成功的事儿,我都觉得特别荣幸。我一直觉得心理健康对一个人快不快乐太重要了,它能让家庭关系好起来,让人跟人之间关系更铁,还能让人把日子过得有滋有味、很有价值。
治疗室就是个让人安心的地方,在这儿,大家可以想说啥说啥,不用怕被人评判或者批评,还能得到理解和支持。我的任务就是搞明白您的那些事儿,还有您的想法,然后给您出出主意,一切都是为了您和您家人好。我给人做治疗,靠的就是能理解人,还有积极乐观的态度。

My work in the children and families mental health field began as an undergraduate student in Education and Family Human Services . During that time I completed one year of internship and 4 years work experiences in local youth non-profit agencies. The first was at a non-profit agency focused on the reunification of estranged families for youth and adolescence. There I worked as preschool teacher and family coordinator in non profit school agency for low-income families, and continued support the child and family. The third was as a child and family intern therapist in a community based agency where I saw children 12 years and under with variety of mental health diagnoses including autism, anxiety, depression, conduct disorder & oppositional defiance as well as children coping with grief & loss, and trauma. The experiences I had working with these children and their loved ones that I saw the powerful impact that family and environment has on the individual.
After graduate school I continued my work with children and families in largely impoverished, high risk & culturally diverse areas. I worked with families in a variety of settings including clinics, homes, foster homes and intense outpatient treatment. These were families who were dealing with trauma, abuse & substance dependance. At this time I also began working with children, adolescents who were involved with the legal system. For the past few years, I have worked closely with educators to pursue a team effort approach, I have attended IEP meetings, in the order to support the children and their families.
